Countdown to the Metropolis World Congress (Porto Alegre, 23-26 November 2011)

The countdown has begun to the Metropolis World Congress entitled “Cities in Transition”, which will take place in Porto Alegre between 23 and 26 November 2011!

The event is getting bigger every day, with over 90 cities and around 100 speakers confirmed, distributed over the 18 sessions scheduled in the program (click here to download). The event also has the backing of collaborating institutions and businesses of major international projection, with whom you will be able to make contact during the Congress.

We also invite you to take part in the activities programmed for 23 November such as the technical visits to various projects rolled out by Porto Alegre; the day of the International Women’s Network; the session organized by United Cities Local Governments to foster knowledge exchanges between cities of the South; and the meeting on urban mobility organized by the Embarq network.

Additionally, the round-table discussion organized by the UN-Habitat, will provide a unique opportunity to interact with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN-Habitat, Dr. Joan Clos.

Finally, anyone who has not yet registered is encouraged to do so as possible by clicking here. We would also ask you to arrange your hotel reservation, as November is high season in Porto Alegre.

We look forward to seeing you in Porto Alegre soon!
